Fighting for Diabetes

Diabetes is not just for adults!   Many people think that diabetes is something that only adults tend to be diagnosed with but in reality over three million Americans live with Type I Diabetes also known as Juvenile Diabetes. Type I Diabetes strikes both children and adults at any age.  While insulin allows a diabetic to stay alive, it is not a cure and does not necessarily prevent the possibility of the disease’s serious effects later in life. Physical exercise is important for everyone but it is especially important for people with diabetes. Regular exercise helps lower blood sugars and keep them in a target range.  It is a day to day challenge managing blood sugar but by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and with regular exercise it can be accomplished.  Having Type I Diabetes is a never ending job!

This year Faith Bible is recognizing and supporting four students who all share one common trait, Type I Diabetes. Maggie Allen, Elizabeth Bohn, Carolyn Beeson and Jordan Wagner all live with Type I Diabetes on a daily basis. So won’t you come out and support diabetes and the school athletic program on May 5th, 2012, on the beautiful Banks – Vernonia Trail for our second Running For Faith Race!  Visit our website for more information RunningForFaithRace.com.
